lyrics or other text:Despite the name, Kemp’s Jig isn't actually a jig. It was named in tribute to an extraordinary feat of William Kemp, a comic actor and colleague of Shakespeare., who, in a ‘publicity stunt’ at the turn of the 17th century, danced from London to Norwich in 9 days in a bid to revive his career. Although a popular song in typically Elizabethan style, the piece has now entered the student repertoire of various classical instruments, including guitar, lute and harpsichord.
